For those members with older cars...

Yes, they are old and are not subject to the Provincial DriveClean rules but they still fall under the Federal Environmental Protection Act.  Yes, you need those emission devices on when inspected.

The police will stop you and need a search warrant to lift the hood.  The Environment people do not need a warrant. Often you will see the local police working in tandem with the Environmental inspectors.  What was on the car when it was built has to be there. So consider the ramifications of modifications like sidepipes on a C3 before installing them.
