Roy Orbison's Corvette |
Member Scott traveled in October of 2009 to Cleveland, Ohio on a business trip and while there went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Scott had a great time there and wanted to share one of the exhibits with other members.
Singer Roy Orbison, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, owned a 1967 Corvette and the car was on display. Orbison purchased just prior to his death in 1988.
This is from the sign posted on the ground in front of the car. " Roy Orbison became enamored with speed and cars in his teens. He owned and drove numerous high-performance vehicles and motorcycles during his lifetime. It was a passion that nearly equaled his love of music. Orbison purchased this car in the late Eighties when he lived in Southern California. He drove it daily to the studio when recording the albums The Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 and Mystery Girl. It was the last car he purchased prior to his death in 1988."
