Saturday, June 3, 2017 Tour Through Time

On Saturday, June 3, the Capital Corvette Club and Valley Vettes pooled their resources for Canada's 150th birthday road tour through time.

Richard and Karen Stead of the CCC and Kirk and Lynda Dobbs of Valley Vettes hosted the road tour with 23 CCC member vettes departing from Kanata and Almonte, stopping in Calabogie for a pit stop and continuing to meet the Valley Vette members in Balaclava.

The tour took us up the valley through farmland settled in the 1800s to the ghost town of Balaclava.  The town was named in 1859 to mark the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War.  Today, shuttered buildings and a century old dam tell the story of this pioneer hamlet. 12 Valley Vettes join us in Balaclava for a photo shoot, walking around the old buildings and then continuing on the second leg of the tour through Whitewater country to Wilderness Tours on the shores of the Ottawa River near Foresters Falls.

35 vettes made the tour from Balaclava to Wilderness Tours. It was quite a site to see all the vettes travelling down the road. At Wilderness Tours we enjoyed a buffet lunch and some spectacular scenery. Following the lunch, another photo shoot was held in front of the facility, and then many CCC vettes returned home following the spectacular views along the Ottawa River.

Many thanks to another great tour organized by Richard & Karen Stead, especially Karen for her homemade cookies to start the trip and to the Valley Vettes club for a great tour.
