The engine used to drive the website is a program called Joomla 1.7.  The site has been upgraded from an older version of Joomla.  While the site was being migrated, subtle changes were made to the layout and font - hopefully resulting in a better experience for you - the members of our club.

The migration wasn't without it's trying moments for your webmaster.  First, the good news - my marriage has survived the experience.  The neighbors may be disturbed by some of the blue language heard through the walls - but no one called the police.  Our President offered counselling sessions from Florida.  To say that things got a little trying is an understatement.  An upgrade program was used to move the core files of the program on the server, but all articles, pictures, albums and data that had been input into the old site had to be moved manually or rewritten.  A tedious, large task - but for the better.  Although there isn't a lot of difference in the appearance of the site, the mechanics behind it all are different and will provide a better base for the future.

With the migration of the site, there is always some glitches that appear and the site crashes.  Call it bad timing - but hours after the new site was up and limping along, the server we use in Texas crashed and it was up and down for four days.  When I would check the site and it wasn't working - it wasn't clear if it was because of my error or a server error.  And to make matters worse - when our server company got the site up and running, they had replaced the data they lost with a slightly older version of the new site that wasn't communicating with the newer version I was anticipating was there. Complicated - but never-the-less the site is up and running and hopefully - it will stay that way!
